Injured in Waterford? Here’s What You Should Know

Car crashed

If you were injured in an accident in Waterford or anywhere nearby, you’re probably dealing with more than just physical recovery. You might be fielding calls from insurance adjusters, trying to figure out how to pay bills while missing work, and sorting through a lot of confusing information online. That’s where I come in. My name is Eric Santoro, and I run a small personal injury lawyer Waterford, CT office based in southeastern Connecticut. If someone else's carelessness caused your injury, I want to help you understand your rights, your options, and what comes next.

One of the things I hear often from new clients is that they’re not even sure if they have a case. Maybe the other driver seemed apologetic at the scene, but now won’t return calls. Maybe someone slipped up—literally or figuratively—and no one wants to take responsibility. That’s completely normal. You don’t need to have everything figured out to reach out to a lawyer. You just need to know something feels off. If your injury happened because of someone else’s mistake, there’s a good chance you may be entitled to compensation, and I’m here to look into that for you.

I’ve worked with people who were injured in car accidents, falls, dog bites, and other incidents where another person or business acted carelessly. Whether it happened on the road, in a parking lot, in a store, or at someone’s home, I’ll take a close look at the situation and give you an honest, straightforward opinion. And if it’s not something I can help with, I’ll tell you that too. I don’t believe in making promises I can’t keep or giving false hope. If I do take on your case, you’ll know that I’m personally handling every aspect of it, start to finish. I don’t pass cases off to junior attorneys or case managers, because I don’t have any. It’s just me, and I’m fully involved in every case I accept.

If you're like most people I work with, you've never had to file an injury claim before. You might be wondering what to expect or how long it takes. Here’s how I usually explain it: After you contact me, we’ll start with a free consultation—just a conversation where I listen to what happened and ask a few questions. If it looks like you have a claim, I’ll gather medical records, accident reports, photos, and any other documents that help tell your story. I’ll deal with the insurance companies so you don’t have to. If we’re able to reach a fair settlement without going to court, I’ll walk you through the offer and what it means. And if the other side refuses to be reasonable, I’m prepared to take the next step and bring the case into the legal system.

Injury cases take time, and they’re not always straightforward. But I’ll keep you in the loop throughout the entire process. You’ll hear from me directly, not through a receptionist or assistant, because I think communication is a big part of what makes someone feel supported. I know the process can be stressful, and I make a real effort to give my clients peace of mind along the way. That includes being honest about what’s realistic, answering your questions in plain language, and always being available to talk when you need clarity.

My Approach to Injury Cases in Southeastern Connecticut

I started Santoro Injury Law, LLC because I wanted to practice law differently—on a smaller, more personal scale, where every client knows their attorney and gets consistent, thoughtful attention. I know that’s not how every firm works. I’ve seen how some personal injury cases are treated like numbers on a board, pushed through in high volume to maximize quick settlements. That’s not my approach. I believe if someone trusts me with something this important, I owe it to them to do the work myself and to do it right. That means spending time with the facts of the case, digging into the details that insurance companies want to ignore, and keeping the people I represent involved in the process from start to finish.

I also believe in setting clear expectations from the beginning. One of the biggest frustrations I hear from people is that they didn’t know what was happening with their case. Maybe their lawyer stopped returning calls. Maybe they felt pressured to accept a settlement they weren’t comfortable with. My promise is simple: I won’t do that. I’ll explain your options honestly—even when the news isn’t perfect. I’d rather give someone a realistic picture than promise results I can’t deliver. That’s part of the transparency I bring to every case. My goal is to give you the information you need to make smart decisions and the support to get through a challenging time.

My office helps people with many types of personal injury cases, including car accidents, motorcycle crashes, truck collisions, slip and falls, dog bites, and wrongful death claims. I also handle workers' compensation claims for people injured on the job, and in those cases, I’m proud to say that I am a Board Certified Workers' Compensation Specialist, which is a designation granted by the Connecticut Bar Association. (That certification does not apply to personal injury cases, but it’s an important distinction when it comes to workplace injuries.)

For personal injury claims, there are no upfront fees. I work on a contingency fee basis, which means you don’t pay anything unless I recover money for you. No retainers, no surprise billing. Just an agreement that puts the risk on me, not you. That’s how I think it should be. You’re already dealing with enough—legal fees shouldn’t be one of them.

Although my office is based in southeastern Connecticut, I regularly help people in Waterford and nearby communities. If you're not sure whether your case is something I handle, or if you're unsure whether you need a lawyer at all, you're welcome to give me a call. There’s no pressure, no sales pitch, and no obligation. Just a conversation.

At the end of the day, you deserve to know that someone is in your corner. If you’ve been injured and need help figuring out what to do next, I’m here to listen—and to act when it counts. Whether your case is big or small, my approach is the same: real attention, real communication, and real commitment to doing what’s right for you.
